Claire Costelloe

Starting as a Legal Assistant in our Commercial Property department in June 2023, Claire secured a training contract with the firm and became a Trainee Solicitor in September 2025.

Claire's current role involves working across different legal departments, supporting solicitors with legal research, and drafting. Similarly to all our trainees, she will have the opportunity to develop practical experience in areas such as property, private client, and litigation. Claire says "the firm has a strong local presence across Sussex and I enjoy working closely with a diverse client base whilst building my legal and client care skills to the high standard that Heringtons is well known for. I am committed to providing clear, professional advice and contributing positively to the firm and the wider Sussex community."

BACKGROUND:

Claire completed her LLB Law degree at Birkbeck, University of London in 2009, followed by the Legal Practice Course with an LLM in Business at the University of Law in 2024. Over the years, she has gained valuable experience working and volunteering in adviser roles for charities, as well as in support positions within law firms in Eastbourne. These roles strengthened her client care skills and deepened her commitment to accessible legal services.  

HOBBIES:

Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She volunteers for a local charity in Eastbourne.  She also enjoys running - or as she says more accurately, "slow jogging"  - as a way to relax and clear her mind. She tells us when she is not on the move, she appreciates quiet moments at home, especially spending quality time with her cat, Louis!
