Rosemarie Close

Rosemarie is a Compliance Officer for the firm, ensuring we comply with regulatory arrangements from data protection to anti-money laundering.  This involves helping our clients and lawyers to provide the information and evidence we need to establish their identity and the source of their wealth.  Not only does this ensure robust protection from fraud but can also help us understand better the nature of services our clients require and how to best deliver them, taking account of individual circumstances.

To support our regulatory compliance and the benefits it can bring our clients, Rosemarie is also involved in the development of software and workflows supporting our lawyers in providing the best possible service to our clients. 

BACKGROUND

Rosemarie trained in East Sussex after obtaining her law degree at the University of Sussex in 2006.  Her initial experience was in conveyancing, running a post completion team at a large East Sussex firm.  This helped her to develop a wide knowledge of the issues that can beset conveyancing transactions and helped her develop software in that role to try and improve the experience for lawyers and clients.  She brings this knowledge to the development of our conveyancing systems.

After qualifying Rosemarie worked in personal injury and clinical negligence for a period, dealing with some complex and high value claims relating to head injuries and mesothelioma as well as road traffic accidents and compensation for bedsores.  On joining Heringtons, Rosemarie dealt with some complex Contentious Probate matters, using the skills she had developed in reviewing and understanding evidence from different sources, while also developing our suite of data protection policies to ensure that our client’s data is protected at all times.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Rosemarie has recently become a keen dressmaker and can often be seen in the office in her various creations ranging from standard office wear to medieval style summer dresses. She enjoys exercising and spending time with her son and her dog.
