Melanie Cook
Chartered Legal Executive & STEP Affiliate
Melanie is a lawyer in our Vulnerable Client department based in Eastbourne and working in the locality of all our offices. Melanie assists clients with preparing their Wills, Enduring and Lasting Powers of Attorney, probate and estate administration. She works closely with our Vulnerable Client Services Manager, Tracey May.
BACKGROUND:
Melanie obtained an LLB (Honours) degree from the University of Hertfordshire in 2005. After university she worked in social care until 2014 when she worked as a Legal Secretary/PA for a Legal 500 Court of Protection team based in Kent.
She undertook and completed her CILEx Level 6 Fast-track Diploma in 2016, studying conveyancing, probate practice and client care skills. In 2018 she moved firms and worked as a Paralegal in the private client department dealing with high-net-worth clients. Melanie completed her CILEx qualifying work-based learning, qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in March 2022.
Melanie joined Heringtons in February 2023 and moved to the Vulnerable Client Services team in January 2024. Melanie is an affiliate member of the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP).
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE:
Melanie enjoys long walks and running. She also enjoys spending time with her young son and her family.
